In the past two years, Ball has invested 900,000 Euros in its UK operations to improve energy efficiency. In its three UK plants (Deeside, Rugby and Wrexham), electricity consumption per unit produced was reduced by 15 per cent and natural gas consumption by 18 per cent since 2007.
The company has also shown improvements in waste. Last year, 80 per cent of its waste was recycled with 16 per cent used to generate energy. All UK plants have reached the corporate goal of zero waste to landfill.
